British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said Monday there is a potential deal for a “sustained” 40-day Gaza cease-fire. The deal could also include the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and “potentially thousands” of Palestinians in Israel, he said in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, describing the offer as “very generous.” Also in Riyadh, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said: “Right now … Hamas has before it a proposal that is extraordinarily, extraordinarily generous on the part of Israel. … I’m hopeful that they will make the right decision and we can have a fundamental change in the dynamic.” A Hamas delegation is in Cairo for ongoing cease-fire negotiations, and Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq said the group is examining a proposal.
