According to the news agency, the Central Criminal Police has initiated a preliminary investigation into the former commander of the notorious Russian group Voislav Torden.
Torden’s Rusich paramilitary group, which he established in Finland, is accused of committing terrorist crimes in Ukraine. He is currently in the custody of the Finnish Border Guard.
It is worth noting that the Supreme Court of Finland ruled that Torden cannot be extradited to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Central Criminal Police has discreetly begun a preliminary investigation into Torden, examining the materials that Ukraine has sent to Finland.
These materials include arguments as to why Ukraine believes Torden should be extradited. Likely, they will also contain evidence supporting suspicions of his involvement in terrorist crimes in Ukraine.
Arrest of Petrovsky in Finland
At the end of August last year, the police in Finland arrested Petrovsky. At that time, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced its intention to extradite him.
Yan Petrovsky is the leader and commander of the Russian paramilitary group Rusich Operational Group. He was known for his connections in ultra-right circles, and Petrovsky also fought alongside Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
