FIGHTING IN THE EUPHRATES VALLEY
The US and Russia each provided air support for a joint battle against 10,000 ISIS fighters using a pincer movement to pin them down in their last strongholds of Abu Kamal and Mayadin in the Euphrates valley.
In addition to US and Russian forces, the Syrian regime, Hezbollah and pro-Iranian militia armies along with US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Kurdish YPG and the Syrian Arab Shammari Sanadid Brigade participated in the attack.
Once again, President Donald Trump entered into an agreement with Russia without knowing the outcome or consequences. The two powers have reached an unprecedented measure of accord for working together with their respective allies and proxies for a concerted effort to wipe out the last ISIS strongholds along the Syrian-Iraqi border, but certain areas are still unresolved:
- Which of the two will take charge of the oil fields of Deir ez-Zour? Control of this oil-rich region is a valuable strategic prize for the winner.
- Which of the two formations will actually lead the battles for Abu Kamal and Mayadin?
- And which of the two will be left in control of the Syrian-Iraqi border running through the Euphrates Valley?
Leaving any of these points up in the air is a recipe for major clashes between the pro-Russian and pro-US forces which have banded together against the Islamic State’s last stand.
Where is Donald Trump’s deal-making expertise now? Has he completely turned control of Syria over to Russia?
As the threat of ISIS continues to recede in Syria, there’s a scramble on between U.S.-backed and pro-Syrian government factions to secure control of the country’s eastern desert regions ahead of whatever conflict or negotiated settlement comes next. At the same time, the Syrian regime of dictator Bashar Al Assad, along with his Russian and Iranian allies and their proxies, continue to consolidate their respective positions to the west, around Lebanon.
The U.S. is heavily invested in Lebanon. Initially, it was hoped that a stronger Lebanese national army would act as a counterweight against Iran-backed Hezbollah. Officials in the Bush administration saw an opportunity to contain Iran by potentially weakening its Lebanese ally, while Lebanese political opponents of Hezbollah hoped a stronger army would shift the domestic power balance.
The United States started heavily investing in the [Lebanese Army] after 2006 with the theory that building up Lebanon’s national institutions would reduce the relative power – and the perceived need among the Lebanese population – for the Hezbollah army.
Nevertheless, despite the improvements to the Army in the past few years, the well-financed and battle-tested Hezbollah remains the true military power in Lebanon. The conflict in neighboring Syria and the emergence of extremist groups like ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra has helped maintain the momentum in Washington for building a stronger Lebanese Army. Until now.
A word about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The fighting forces are hunting for him. Officials say that now ISIS has largely been forced out of Raqqa as well as Mosul, they believe Baghdadi is somewhere in the middle Euphrates River Valley, which could put him in the crosshairs of the Syrian regime and Russian aircraft operating in the region. Meanwhile, the battle for Deir-Ezzor still rages, according to Debka.com, even though there have been some premature and incorrect announcements of victory over ISIS.
U.S. GOVERNMENT SWITCHEROO ON LEBANON
Something is going on between the US and the Lebanese government. First, the US State Department will try to stop funding Lebanon in the 2018 budget. Second, Hezbollah is quickly gaining more power in the Lebanese government. These two changes will further enhance the alliance of Lebanon with the 4+1 coalition.
The State Department is proposing drastic funding cuts to Lebanon in its 2018 foreign aid budget, including a complete cessation of the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program. In 2016, the FMF to Lebanon amounted to $85.9 million. The move portends a potentially tougher stance by the administration of President Trump against Lebanon in the months ahead and has sent alarm bells ringing in Beirut and among the Army’s supporters in Washington.
Let the wrangling begin.
PROPOSED REPEAL OF BROAD EXECUTIVE POWER TO WAGE WAR
Senators on Wednesday rejected a proposal from Rand Paul to repeal, with a six-month delay, the authorization for the use of military force the nation uses to fight ISIS and other terrorist organizations.
The authorization, passed in the days following the September 11, 2001 attacks, has been used to legally justify a broad range of military action over the last 16 years, and has recently been the subject of bitter debates in Congress as to whether lawmakers are abdicating their constitutional duty to declare war.
The Trump administration, like the Obama administration before it, has argued that it has the legal authority to wage war against ISIS under the 2001 authorization. Paul and other advocates for repealing the 2001 AUMF — as well as one passed in 2002 before the Iraq War — argue that it is being used to justify military action beyond the original legal authority.
There was division even among those who have been actively seeking a new authorization for the war against the Islamic State. Some lawmakers want a more restrictive policy, but there are those who want to approve a more open-ended authority to the president.
There will continue to be a need for funding in the war against ISIS. As the crackdown on ISIS in Iraq and Syria has intensified, the organization began thinking and planning terrorist operations in Western countries, as well as a search for ways to smuggle their money abroad.
The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed Tuesday that ISIS began to transfer funds from the territory under their control to foreign countries, especially Europe. It seems that the money will be spent to fund dormant cells in Europe to carry out attacks.
ISIS is trying to find new sources of income since the loss of funds from oil sales of the fields they conquered during the Syrian and Iraq wars has dried up. Some estimates indicate that ISIS has lost about 90% of oil wells that they had previously controlled. Now, they are resorting to operations related to foreign currencies and smuggling of antiquities and drugs.
The ISIS dinar has become more expensive than gold. Moreover, as their resources diminished, ISIS imposed their currency on all the territories under their control in search for additional sources of funding.
ISIS had a policy of refusing to accept payments from captured residents in other currencies, forcing them to convert Syrian pounds and US dollars to ISIS dinars, which are sold at a price higher than the price of gold in the “economic offices” of the organization.
A Russian official revealed that ISIS, following this method, has sold more than 100 thousand dinars at a price higher than 180 dollars for one ISIS dinar, leaving them with an income of about $18 million, which of course will be spent on the purchase of arms and ammunition along with moving operations to other countries.
Just because they have been run out of the Middle East does not mean ISIS is defeated or gone from the earth.
ISIS’S ROLE IN CREATING THE NEXT CALIPHATE
The next beast government is coming. Its growth began under George Bush with its army being raised to full fruition under Barack Obama. The only intent that one can surmise for the creation of ISIS was the formation of a new Sunni government that would rule all of Islam and that would be obligated to the western world, particularly the United Sates.
I reported many time in Beast Watch News that Obama was trying to return the entire earth to imperialism. He and his New World Order cohorts were trying to produce a one world government where the President of the United States would be the king. That’s where ISIS came in handy.
ISIS raised the specter of a forthcoming Beast government, an Islamic Caliphate to replace the Ottoman Caliphate. The Islamic reign in the Middle East, which included continual occupation of Jerusalem until about 100 years ago, constitutes the 7th Beast of Revelation.
Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings; five have fallen, and one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.
The LORD has said there are seven kingdoms, or empires, that are of concern to Him. These are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome and Islam. When John saw this vision, he was under Roman captivity. Rome was the sixth beast. Five kingdoms had arisen and fallen before Rome.
Rev 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition.
A beast would arise after Rome which would spawn another beast like the seven before it. It would look like the one that was before it, Islam.
Islam is the seventh empire from which arises the eighth. A Biblical beast is a government and the man that rules that government. Each empire from Egypt forward incorporated elements of the former empires which is why the eighth beast will be so much more ferocious than its predecessors. It will have incorporated 4,000 years of ideology, knowledge and power, not to mention the technology available to it at the end of days.
The next Caliphate may not come directly from ISIS, but it is because of ISIS that there will be another Caliphate. For almost 100 years, Muslims have dreamed of occupying Jerusalem once again, but this time, not just to occupy, but to occupy exclusively with a total absence of Jacob’s descendants globally. Their idea is to kill the Sabbath keepers first, followed by the Sunday keepers.
ISIS intends to move forward with their plans to revive the Caliphate. This will be a factor in the King of the North’s war with the King of the South. The King of the North is a Shi’ite coalition while the King of the South are Sunnis. ISIS is a fundamentalist, extremist Sunni organization.
The King of the North is, I believe, the same entity as the white horse and rider in Revelation 6 who goes forth conquering and ‘to conquer’. White is associated with religious ideals. This horse has a king riding on it which has received a crown. He goes forth conquering – overrunning the countries listed in Daniel 11 starting at verse 40 – so that he can conquer the King of the South, take the authority of Mecca and Medina for himself and re-institute the new Islamic Caliphate from the former 1300+ year old Caliphate. The only difference between the coming Caliphate and the previous one is that the previous one was Sunni throughout its history. This new one will be Shia. Thus, it is “of” and “like” the former one, as Revelation says. A thing that is “like” something else is not exactly the same, but close enough that people will clearly see it for what it is.
In ISIS’s quest to continue its pursuit of a new Caliphate, it has been recruiting people barely in their teens, suggesting a forward-looking long haul mentality, in what looks like a global campaign by the terrorist group to lure teenagers to extremism without the need to leave their homes. In fact, ISIS have been using Google Plus for months to spread their ideology without so much as a peep from Google. Google, of course, is its own terrorist organization now operated from the U.S. deep state’s NSA.
Malaysia just rounded up another three Islamic State militants this week, French officials have prevented a dozen terrorist attacks in France since the beginning of the year and even Shi’ite Iran has reported this week that they, too, have thwarted a Sunni Islamic State attack.
These kinds of attacks have been ongoing globally since Barack Obama unleashed the CIA-created organization which begun in the Bush administration and it will continue its operations.
TRUMP’S ISIS AGENDA
President Donald Trump is reversing the Obama agenda to try to heal the breach between the old western New World Order and the new eastern New World Order. Giving up Syria, allowing Iran and its allies to remain on Israel’s and Jordan’s borders, making economic concessions (while pretending to sanction the Russians and Iranians) all leave telltale signs of his intentions.
In the statement regarding the bill Trump signed to increase sanctions on Russia, it is clear he felt backed into a corner. Political necessity ruled the day, but Trump was not happy.
Russia had relayed a number of proposals to Trump in March, outlining measures that would normalise relationship with the US, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday. Buzzfeed reported on Tuesday that Russia had passed a “bold proposition” to Trump during his third month of presidency. The document, obtained by Buzzfeed, suggested immediate steps to restore diplomatic, military, and intelligence channels severed between the two countries after Russia’s military interventions in Ukraine and Syria.
So much for that since Congress seems bent on not having good Russian relations.
The desire to resume dialogue and look for joint solutions wasn’t “mutual,” Dmitry said.
It is understandable that someone who is not in the inner circle wouldn’t “get it” and would think Trump was not interested in Putin’s offering. Looking at this situation from another perspective, it is possible to conclude that Trump’s backing out of Syria is a “work around”, another concession to counter his political necessity of signing Congress’s new law. Blindsided by Congress and feeling pressure to re-establish positive relations with Russia, Trump unwittingly, I believe, put Israel and Jordan in danger from modern day Persia, Iran and Russia.
Moscow claims it has been consistently calling for resuming dialogue, exchanging opinions and attempting to find joint solutions to our new cold war. White House and State Department officials have not disputed the story’s authenticity.
MIDDLE EAST GAME CHANGING
Iran, Syria and Hizballah sharpened their responses to a large-scale Israeli military war game against a potential Hizballah invasion that simulated a 30km-deep thrust into S. Lebanon. The war games apparently included F-15 fighter bomber training. Lebanese sources claimed that on Monday, Syria had fired S-200 missiles against two Israeli F-15 fighter bombers flying over the southern Lebanese port town of Sidon – but missed their targets. The Syrian missiles, they claimed, had been fired from “an air defense base in southern Syria.”
This report was not confirmed by any other source, but was accompanied by a photo on various Syrian social media outlets that claimed to show the firing of these missiles and also presented a Lebanese military spokesman as saying that the Syrian missiles were fired at precisely 11.30 a.m. when the Israeli planes were over Sidon.
If this episode actually happened, it would be a game changer, in that for the first time, Syria would have launched missiles from one of its bases against a purported Israel warplane flying over Lebanon.
Even if the two allies were just sending a message to Jerusalem by drumming up an incident, it gains substance from its timing, which is five days after an Israeli air strike on Syria’s chemical and missile weapons development facility, the Scientific Studies and Research Center near Masyaf, 38 km west of the central town of Hama.
Syrian military sources are, moreover, reporting an onrush of Iranian officers, troops and military advisers to southern Syria. According to one official, “Many Iranians are deployed as advisers and police in southern Syria, especially in the de-escalation zones.” Another Syrian official put it more plainly. “We have seen a big increase in the number of Iranian soldiers this month.”
DEBKAfile’s military sources confirm that these reports are partially correct. An Iranian military buildup indeed appears to be taking place on Syria’s borders with Jordan and Israel, in response to Israel’s mock thrust into Lebanon. But they are moving in on areas outside the de-escalation zones which are manned by Russian officers. Their tactic therefore is to entrench themselves in other parts of the southeastern Syria so that Russian, Iranian, Syrian and Hizballah forces form a continuous, impermeable line along Syria’s borders with Israel and Jordan.
On Sunday, Sept. 10, units of the Syrian army’s 5th Corps moved in on large sections of the Jordanian border, including parts close to Israel.
Neither the IDF nor the Jordanian army interfered with any of these potentially menacing steps. They are seen by DEBKAfile’s military sources as a combined Syrian-Iranian-Hizballah comeback for the IDF exercise, to demonstrate that, while Israel shows itself capable of invading Lebanon, the three allies have meanwhile become firmly ensconced on its northern border.
The next day, Hizballah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah boasted about having “won the war in Syria, changing the equations and writing the region’s history, not just Lebanon’s”.
Hamas is working on making its mark on history, too. The terrorists have big plans for building up their power bases in Syria and Lebanon. They hope to take advantage of the warm ties between Egypt’s President Abdel-Fateh El-Sisi and Syria’s President Bashar Assad.
During Syria’s war, Hamas deserted the Assad regime and was punished by being ostracized by Iran, its former patron. But after burying the hatchet with Tehran, Hamas has its eye on a campaign to expand its membership by enlisting young Palestinians in the refugee camps outside Damascus and putting them through training courses at new facilities in Lebanon.
The Shin Bet Director Nadav Argaman warned Israel’s weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, Sept. 10, that Hamas was setting up a power base in Lebanon. Sources report that Assad’s condition for approving this plan is a public Hamas pledge of support for his regime. Hamas has turned to Cairo for its blessing. It is forthcoming. Haniya may travel to Lebanon and offer the pledge demanded by the Syrian ruler.
GLOBAL ECONOMIC GAME CHANGER MOVING FORWARD
Tyler Durden of Zerohedge.com has more to say about the war on the U.S. dollar and petro-dollar this week. “Apparently confirming what President Maduro had warned following the recent US sanctions, The Wall Street Journal reports that Venezuela has officially stopped accepting US Dollars as payment for its crude oil exports.
As we previously noted, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said last Thursday that Venezuela will be looking to “free” itself from the U.S. dollar next week.
According to Reuters, “Venezuela is going to implement a new system of international payments and will create a basket of currencies to free us from the dollar,” Maduro said in a multi-hour address to a new legislative “superbody.” He reportedly did not provide details of this new proposal. Maduro hinted further that the South American country would look to using the yuan instead, among other currencies such as the Russian ruble, yen, Indian rupee, and the euro.
Oil traders who export Venezuelan crude or import oil products into the country have already begun converting their invoices to euros.
The new payment policy hasn’t been publicly announced, but Vice President Tareck El Aissami, who has been blacklisted by the U.S., said Friday, “To fight against the economic blockade there will be a basket of currencies to liberate us from the dollar.”
However, as Nomura debt analyst Siobhan Morden warns: “You can say whatever you want for your domestic propaganda and make it look like you’re retaliating against the U.S…. This political posturing will only be to their detriment. So what happens if Europe also sanctions Venezuela? Will Rubles or Yuan… or Gold be the only way to buy Venezuela’s oil?”
This decision by Venezuela, the nation with the world’s largest proven oil reserves, comes just days after China and Russia unveiled the latest Oil/Yuan/Gold triad at the latest BRICS conference. [During that conference, Putin revealed the BRICS true bombshell with his emphasis on a “fair multipolar world” “against protectionism and new barriers in global trade”.] The message was straight to the point.
“Russia shares the BRICS countries’ concerns over the unfairness of the global financial and economic architecture, which does not give due regard to the growing weight of the emerging economies. We are ready to work together with our partners to promote international financial regulation reforms and to overcome the excessive domination of the limited number of reserve currencies.”
“To overcome the excessive domination of the limited number of reserve currencies” is the politest way of stating what the BRICS have been discussing for years now; how to bypass the US dollar, as well as the petrodollar.
Beijing is ready to step up the game. Soon China will launch a crude oil futures contract priced in yuan and convertible into gold.
This means that Russia – as well as Iran, the other key node of Eurasia integration – may bypass US sanctions by trading energy in their own currencies, or in yuan.
Inbuilt in the move is a true Chinese win-win; the yuan will be fully convertible into gold on both the Shanghai and Hong Kong exchanges.
The new triad of oil, yuan and gold is actually a win-win-win. No problem at all if energy providers prefer to be paid in physical gold instead of yuan. The key message is the US dollar being bypassed.
RC – via the Russian Central Bank and the People’s Bank of China – have been developing ruble-yuan swaps for quite a while now.
Once that moves beyond the BRICS to aspiring “BRICS Plus” members and then all across the Global South, Washington’s reaction is bound to be nuclear (hopefully, not literally).
Washington’s strategic doctrine rules RC should not be allowed by any means to be preponderant along the Eurasian landmass. Yet what the BRICS have in store geo-economically does not concern only Eurasia – but the whole Global South.
Sections of the War Party in Washington bent on instrumentalizing India against China – or against RC – may be in for a rude awakening. As much as the BRICS may be currently facing varied waves of economic turmoil, the daring long-term road map, way beyond the Xiamen Declaration, is very much in place.
WILL EUROPE MOVE OUT FROM UNDER THE UNITED STATES’ SHADOW?
There will be consequences globally if Europe moves ahead with what I’m going to tell you next.
Tyler Durden also reported on what you might have thought was a defunct idea that died with the end of Barack Obama’s occupation of the White House. Oh, nay, nay! The push toward imperialism is alive and well on the planet. The only question we need to ask is whether the king of the old western New World Order or the king of the new eastern New World Order will reign over all the earth. In today’s world, those two choices are Trump and Putin. If the Great Tribulation is farther off, we will have to wait and see who will become the king of the earth and presumably the end time character known as the anti-christ.
Here is Tyler Durden’s report on Jean-Claude Juncker’s grand vision for a ‘United States of Europe’.
“European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker delivered his annual state of the union address on Wednesday, in which he laid out his grand vision for federalist Europe, and urged European Union governments to use economic recovery (i.e., Mario Draghi’s nationalization of the bond market), the political weakness in the US and Brexit as “springboards” toward a closer union, built on an expanded euro zone and a pivotal role in world trade. The allegedly unintoxicated Juncker sketched out a vision of a post-2019 EU where 30 countries would be using the euro, with an EU finance minister running key budgets to help states in trouble.
Among the key proposals put forward by the [current] EU Commission president were compulsory Euro membership for the remaining eight European states outside the bloc, for new countries to join the Schengen zone, plans for closer defensive cooperation leading to the creation of a European army in the next decade and easier ratification of EU-wide trade treaties with foreign powers. Tax and welfare standards would converge and Europe, not the United States, would be the hub of a free-trading world.
In short, a blueprint for a United States of Europe.”
Let me stop here and remind you that I believe Gog is Europe. Making Europe rise from the ashes as an end time player that overshadows the United States is a consideration for interpreting Bible prophecy. However, whether Gog is America, as some Rabbis believe, or that Gog will rise directly out of Europe is not as much as consideration as that Gog is a descendant of Reuben that is now part of France’s population. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Europe indeed does rise to this pre-eminence with a French head of the new ‘United States of Europe’?
Now back to Tyler Durden.
Juncker has also resurrected the idea of merging his own post with that of the President of the European Council, who currently represents the interests of its member state governments, saying it would be easier if “one captain was steering the ship.” Such a president would be chosen in an EU-wide vote. A powerful new EU-wide economy minister has also been touted, one which would have power to whip dissenters in line with a common EU vision.
In his best infomercial salesman imitation, Juncker urged Europeans to hurry, or else the generous offer may not last: “Now we have a window of opportunity, but it will not stay open for ever,” he said, emphasizing a need to move on from and even profit from the British vote to leave the bloc in 2019 according to Reuters.
Much of how the end time prophecies get fulfilled will depend on when the end comes. If it comes soon, the model of the United States as mystery Babylon continues to play. If it comes later, the model of the re-emerging Europe with renewed global power as mystery Babylon could come into play. Only God knows the details. But He does reveal His secrets to His prophets as time moves forward.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2017: BIG DEAL OR NOT?
Scores of YouTube doom and gloom videos, and even evangelical websites, point to the upcoming star alignment on September 23 that seems to match the prophecy in Revelation 12:1–2. Many claim the configuration will signal the Rapture, the second coming of Messiah.
The passage 12:1–2 reads: “And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.”
Conspiracy theorists claim the woman in question is Virgo, and on September 23, the sun and moon will be in Virgo, as will Jupiter, now being said to represent the Messiah.
This happens every 12 years, but they claim because of another planetary alignment, representing “the Lion of the tribe of Judah”, it is an unprecedented event foretold in scripture.
Before going into Virgo, the sun will be in Leo, at the same time as Mercury, Venus, and Mars are in Leo. Astrologers will tell you this configuration is a message (Mercury) of love (Venus) and war (Mars). A message of love and war.
One Christian conspiracy theorist, David Meade, predicts this alignment will herald the arrival of Planet X, AKA Nibiru, followed by the rapture.
Rabbi Moses Israel Benjamin wrote a book in 1894 called ‘Yalkut Moshe’ (Collection of Moses) in which he outlined his predictions for the end of the world. He said that when the Hebrew month of Elul begins with a solar eclipse, it is a sign of the end times. Of course, a total solar eclipse took place on August 21, the day before the start of Elul, and was visible across the United States. Another one is coming in 2024 criss crossing in the opposite direction.
But others do not believe this sign is either rare or particularly significant. In an article entitled “Will the World end on 23 September?”, Jonathan Sarfati wrote that the same planetary coincidence had happened four times in the last millennium, and therefore was not as rare as is being suggested.
Some are predicting global market trouble and an economic collapse for September 2017. September 2015 was heralded as the time of economic collapse. But that didn’t happen, so the “prophets” said they were off by a year – it would happen in 2016. But that didn’t happen, either.
A configuration of the sun, moon and Virgo happened in September 2010. According to one website, discussing a particular sun, moon configuration in Virgo in 2010, “There is one sign that is going to be the biggest sign of the whole millennium. The event will happen in September of 2040 and it happens only once every 26 thousand years. There is going to be a grand massing of the planets, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Mars, along with the Moon and the Sun on the feast of trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) on a Jubilee year in the constellation Virgo. They say that when Christ was born it was a Jubilee year, when the Exodus occurred it was a Jubilee year, and supposedly it is the start of the 7th millennium. Christ, according to the constellations, was also born in September on Rosh Hashanah in Virgo (the woman) Revelation 12:1-2. A new birth.
It’s not only interesting that it is occurring on a Jubilee year (which is the year at the end of seven cycles of Sabbatical years) and on Rosh Hashanah, the new year, but it also symbolizes the seven branched Menorah in the sky. Seven is also a sign of God’s completed creation or works and many other things.”
Another website says, “The signs of Revelation 12 [don’t] have anything to do with end times. There is no verse in the NT that tells us to look for a repetition of those signs in connection with the second coming. There is also no verse that links the signs to the “sign of the son of man” in the gospel eschatological discourses. The sign of the son of man could be several specific things, or nothing specific at all. We have ZERO scriptural reason to think this way.

Both websites are missing YHVH’s point! The most important implication of any signs in the heavens is their call to repentance, a return to keeping all of the LORD’s commandments instead of cherry-picking which ones to keep and which to disobey. I said in my video about the August 21st eclipse that another eclipse just like it had occurred in Ninevah, the capital city of Assyria to where the northern ten tribes of Israel had already begun to be taken captive. God had sent Jonah to call the partially enslaved House of Israel to repentance.
The signs in the heavens always are calls to repentance, but people generally take them as forecasts of disaster. Yeshua told us what to watch for when determining the arrival of the Great Tribulation followed by His return. The list is in Matthew 24, throughout the prophets and in particular, Haggai 2.
Yeshua wasn’t telling us to watch for something that we didn’t know about. When He said that, the Jews knew the list. They knew Haggai prophesied about the 21st day of Tishri (the last day of Sukkot) and the 24th of Kislev (the 9th month and day before Hanukkah). Today, most believers are trying to figure out what to watch for. So, when an anomolous sign in the sky appears, predictions of doom and gloom come forth.
The signs are doom and gloom to those who refuse to repent and begin to obey, but they are signs of hope to those who are already obedient.
